Our Long Awaited Redeemer

Empty tomb of Jesus at sunrise with crosses in background – purchased from Istock
This month, at Easter, we celebrate the Redeemer who gave his life to conquer death. Who was looking for the coming of the Redeemer? Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, mankind has been awaiting a promised Redeemer who would defeat Satan. There is a verse in Genesis 3:15 which tells God’s promise that the “seed” of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent, but be bruised in the heel.
There are many prophecies which we find in the Old Testament about this coming Redeemer, including one by Moses, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers–it is to him you shall listen.” (Deut. 18″15)
Why did he wait so long to come? We certainly cannot understand the mind of God, but he does tell us what we need to know. The Psalmist says a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by. Psalm 90:4.
I note a few items regarding this promised Redeemer in a short video on my website entitled, “Sacred Sky, the Wonder of the Constellations” which you can access here.
My book, Sacred Strands, the Story of a Redeemer Woven Through History, highlights some of the “Looking for a Redeemer” which we find throughout history. You can purchase the book here.
