Boost your Faith in the New Year
I want to encourage every one to make the commitment to read through the Bible each year. January is a great time to start. I know people who have read through the Bible 10 times, 20 times, or 40 times. My husband is in the 40 + times category. Each time you read through the Bible you notice things you missed before.
Never think that you need to understand everything in the Bible. Remember that our minds are not intended to understand everything regarding sacred things. If we are open and love God with an humble attitude, God through his spirit can show us many things. We may have many questions. That is OK. Remember that “now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” I Cor. 13:12
There are many Read Through the Bible schedules. One I like is called The Five Day Bible Reading Program. You read through the entire Bible in a year with just 5 readings a week. This past year I used this plan, but read the Old Testament readings on Mon.- Fri, and the New Testament on Sundays, with Saturday off. Next year I plan to follow the guide for Monday through Friday and then use Saturday and Sunday for other good books, such as those written by the early church fathers. You can download this program here.
My book, Sacred Strands, the Story of a Redeemer Woven Through History can be purchased here.
